Liverpool's success this season has been terrific; my friend John Peel is in my house, watching with me (in spirit); I love Scousers but must admit Zinedine Zidane was my favourite ever footballer and I really like Ronaldo (met him once, in Marrakech). I believe it's being streamed live from BT Sport on You Tube; free for non subscribers.

Oh, thank you. I have just settled down to watch it and I was horrified to find that it wasn't on television.
I was on the verge of having an Andrew style tantrum and burning my licence.
4.30am, here in Korea and I’m sat up watching it. Great start indeed, by Liverpool, but they needed to make that earlier period of pressure to count, with a goal. Real coming back into it now. By the way, no celebrity death affected me to the extent John Peel’s did. I loved the guy. A wonderfully witty and droll man and of course enormously influential to so many iconic artists and bands of the last 50 years. I love seeing him on the old TOTPs repeats on BBC4. His sardonic comments towards some of the more dubious acts, in the 80s were priceless.
Very good game so far but two very sad exits. Liverpool slightly the better so far. And believe it or not, Stevie, Peely was my champion for Johnny Reggae; he loved it, played it first.
I actually think it’s a great song too and my musical tastes have, like John’s, always been very left field,. To be honest, although I remember it very well I didn’t realise it was one of yours until I read your book. My excuse is, I was only 4 at the time. Same with Sugar Sugar. Really decent song and one of the few cover versions, which trumps the original.
Much sympathy for the goalie - that first mistake was awful; my jaw dropped. But the Bale goal made up for it; after a goal like that, any other result would have rankled.

Not hammered; it should have been 1-1 and without the injuries could have been a Liverpool win. In fact I thought it a terrific game; loved it. Edge of seat.
