Robbie Williams and Jonathan King 5 Years, 11 Months ago
Rather disturbed that Robbie, who had many fewer hits than I had, can afford Michael Winner's old house but amused at the battle between him and Jimmy Page regarding the basement extension. I first went to the (now Jimmy's) house when actor Richard Harris (original Dumbledore) had just bought it in the 60s.

Why wouldn't he be able to afford it? Angels is played on the radio non stop, sadly.

These days Honey a play on radio earns almost as little as a Spotify spin.

If I am not mistaken Robbie started out at the time music sales started declining (early 90s).
Did he make a lot of money from live performance?

A huge amount by the looks of it. I think that is where the money is these days, and he might own a football club too..
He has done well.

He signed that £80m recording deal back in 2002 didn't he? I know that figure in the record industry doesn't necessarily mean much, but he must have earned a significant sum on the back of it. He could probably afford the £17.5m to pay for Winner's house plus the large amount for upgrading.

The publicity on deals is massively fake - it is often a total which only becomes due under certain circumstances. The problem for Robbie was total failure in the USA (unfair; Angels should have been huge there). I'm sure he has made a lot - back in the 60s we were lucky to get more than 3%. The vast majority went to the labels and publishers. I sussed that early on - one reason I instantly turned into a producer and copyright owner, with Hedgehoppers and Genesis. Plus I was never a very good singer and always a dreadful performer.

I disagree. Good singing is not about acrobatics but good delivery and feeling. You are an excellent singer.

Looking at the the virgin book of British Hit Singles Robbie Williams has had 27 top ten singles and JK has had 2, where are you getting the idea that you have had more hit singles than Robbie Williams?. Also he had a song writing credit on most, if not all of these songs. Also he can sell out Wembley stadium and the Millenium Stadium, 80,000+ stadiums. I'm not a fan, but there is no doubt that he could probably buy a house like that many many times over.

Don't forget that JK had numerous hits under various different names, so if you just look-up Jonathan King you will not find The Piglets, Shag, plus many many others.

I haven't forgot that ITK, this includes all aliases. Well done to jk for havning two top ten singles, I don't have any, but anyone suggesting that he was more successfull than Robbie Williams is just pure fantasy.

The Hits by the way are "Everyones gone to the Moon" no. 4 in 1965, and Uma Paloma Blanca No. 5. in 1975, both under aliases, "Hooked on a feeling" only got to no. 23.

Sugar Sugar was no. 12, Johnny Reggae was no. 3, and Loop de Love no. 4. I stand corrected my most recent version of The British Hit Singles doesn't combine all of jk's hits together like my older one, they are seperated, however he is still 23 short of Robbie, no matter how much the sychophants say otherwise

But not necessarily in SALES. Which was my point.
And sod off with your "sycophant" comments!

Jk's original post said that he had more hits than Robbie (maybe jokingly), however I'm just providing evidence to the contrary. Having more top ten hits doesn't mean that you have sold more records no, but in this case I think very few could argue that Johnathan King has outsold Robbie Williams. I'm not saying that one is better than another, but that Robbie has sold more records than jk, by a very large margin.
