TOPIC: The David Bowie TV show

The David Bowie TV show 5 Years, 2 Months ago
I didn't like it much. Insufficient research. I knew David very well in the 60s - my newspaper rave about Can't Help Thinking About Me in January 1966 started our relationship. I was one of the few to resist his sexual blandishments (dodgy eyes; bad teeth) but we were friends - his manager Ken Pitt lived around the corner from me and David used to pop over all the time. I've described our adventures in my books, as have others (Wendy Leigh). In the show Dana Gillespie (knew her well) describes him as "looking for affection". No, David was looking for attention - a very different thing.

can't say I knew him (how unusual) although I saw him at many events both in London & New York and even sat next to him in a coffee shop once when I was vising Sydney and he living there.

When I ran a shop on the Kings Road..so popular with slebs..selling bedspreads to Jackie Onassis and Gregory Peck (not at the same time) and advising Twiggy on how she could set up a Moroccan hammock ( "string it between two trees)... Angie Bowie came in and bought heaps of crockery.

I agreed to deliver it to their house down the road. She asked me to set it up on a sideboard and I obliged. David came downstairs and they both stared at me as I rearranged the crockery.

I could feel their eyes drilling me. Of course they must have fancied me ( For Christ's sake who wouldn't?..it was the 1970s and I was gorgeous..still am actually..if you like the Geriatric Look) but I'm very shy.

My main memory?..what very very ordinary taste they had. Ordinary dull furniture (the most boring things from Terrence Conran) and so on.
Nothing adventurous.
Perhaps then he still couldn't or didn't know how to, hire a decorator!!

# really liked Angie. Met her years later on the QE2. She's good fun. David didn't treat her well.
But he's a Capricorn.
