Strange for me; I presented, hosted and wrote the 1987 Brits and came up with the name (British Record Industry Trusts Show)... then rescued it as writer and producer after the 1988 and 1989 debacles. For three years I ran it, giving Freddie Mercury his Outstanding Contribution Award. It's really not entertaining now, is it? Little ideas of mine (like getting Prime Minister Thatcher crooning How Much Is That Doggy In The Window) made it different, at least. The Great British Music Weekend including snippets of unsigned acts (like Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine). Oh well; I tried. Like I tried to win Eurovision for the UK. I have my memories and acclaim from those who matter.
