The strangest of all aspects of the George Pell case is that he has been found guilty of abusing a boy- who repeatedly denied that it happened when asked over the years even though he would have been eligible for $100Ks in compensation from the Church.
The orgy of celebration today in Australia on the reporting of Pell's conviction which happened last year is scary.
This is a new phase of a Witch Hunt that was determined to nab this man because he is a Conservative and had conservative friends.
His conservative pals like former PM Tony Abbott are now being viciously attacked.
Dozens of alleged "left" leaning ( Stalinist?) hacks attacked Pell mercilessly when he said he was too sick to return to give evidence at a Royal Commission.
When told he was to be charged with serious crimes Pell immediately returned to Australia. Total silence from those hacks.
I still think there is every chance this conviction will be overturned on appeal. It was Pell's word against his accusers.
