The character is past its sell by date. Three Alan Partridge autobiography was a dire read, it was only amusing for the first few chapters.
Then again Steve Coogan is now bore when thinking about it. I have seen him live several times. I remember one time the audience was pretty much force laughing.
When he did Alan Partridge the audience were loving it.
Sadly I agree. I was and am a huge fan of the early series but there are only so many pips to squeeze and it comes across like a poor tribute act. Can't watch it....

Also several years ago a Sky channel showed a new Alan Partridge comedy but it was pretty much forgotten about. It wasn't on a mainstream channel. I'm sure I still have Knowing Me, Knowing You, on cassette.
Saxondale, was good even the references to 80s metal bands are funny, but again it's only funny if you followed the 80s rock/metal scene.
