well I enjoyed the totp 2 eurovision special on saturday at midnight. 1 hour 20 mins after scheduled because of the bloody snooker.
Loved seeing all the old british entrants like Love City Groove, Mary Hopkin, Clodagh Rogers,the wonderfull Bardo (Why didn't they win??), and of course the biggest winner (under jk's stewardship) Katrina and the waves.
However what do you think of the UKs chance of winning in 2007. Personally I don't think it has a chance. It is tunesles

Robbiex, I'm sure you are right. Very poor song in my book. However, I'm over in Helsinki for the proceedings, and will be watching Scooch's first rehearsal later this evening. I will be reporting back.

I don't think the UK stand a chance this year either. I can't even believe we're being represented by such a song and the bands image is so awful its an embarrassment.

I couldn't agree more - a really awful song and a performance that makes one shudder with embarrassment !!
The group's image is appalling - it doesn't seem to have changed in twenty years, and that's being kind !

Many of the other entries are much better than ours. However, we had a very poor selection to choose our own entry from. The best song may have been "I Can" but was so badly performed on the night and really needed a better vocalist. Then there was Cyndi who, although being the best singer on the night, had a song which was too plagiarised from both 'Loch Lomond' and 'You Raise Me Up' to be accepted as an original.

So we were left with Scooch and 'Flying The Flag For You'. It's quite Euro-ish and might prove to be a surprise hit, but I'd be surprised if we're any higher than mid-table.

Next year we need to offer the UK public a better selection of songs at the outset. This is where we fall down too often. But the Eurovision Song Contest is still a lot of fun, and I'll still be watching it on Saturday.

I felt really sorry for Brian on "I Can", I felt that we were all behind him, in fact i know we were, I worry that was the kind of pressure that got to him all around.
Some performers thrive on it, some do not.
I`d still like to work with him anyday, he has a superb, sweet and characteristic voice.

Much as I dislike the Scooch song i think people are being overly pessimistic about it's chances.

My bet would be they should finish at between No 4 and 8 - definitely Top 12.

I have just seen them rehearse, and I have to say in my 12 years of coming to Eurovision, I haven't seen anything so bad on so many levels.

I am now straight off to the official opening reception, so will send a more measured report tomorrow morning.
