A refreshing mix of views there. Pity that UK/US TV don't seem to do the same.

It looks as if he can certainly hold his own in French. Am curious to know why, but the only biographical info that seems to be available about him online is about his films.

This is exactly what I thought. I could feel emotions coming and going underneath but not once did they gain the upper hand. A well-informed debate presented in a calm, civilised manner makes a welcome change from the confrontational, combative or falsely sympathetic interview styles of Piers Morgan and Victoria Derbyshire. I watched a little of another Dan Reed interview last night, the one about the Mumbai Terrorist Attacks. He said at one point that he had studied Russian and French at University.
