TOPIC: Far-right Parties

Far-right Parties 6 Years, 3 Months ago
Following the success of the Finn Party in Finland a couple of weeks ago - they came second - today's Spanish elections are expected to do something similar.

The Vox Party, which only came to prominence in December, is expected to perform well - and perhaps have a share of power.

In addition, the strength of the Catalan case will become clearer - but, undoubtedly the far-right are having a resurgence in Europe. And here.

Vox win 10% of the Spanish vote - and 24 seats.

Becoming the first far-right party in government for about 45 years.

Since the days of Franco - and on an anti-immigration/austerity platform.

Who's next to replicate this Europewide stance!?

Already - a far-right Alliance exists in the EU.

Between parties from Italy, Austria, Netherlands and France.

Many think it's about to grow larger, accounting for about a third of the forthcoming EU total vote.

Farage, Robinson etc., are not alone.

"Success" of Vox surely exaggerated with 90% rejecting them although you wouldn't think it with the BBC shaking with excitement.

I've seen this over & over in Oz and UKIP was similar.
Far right parties have brief surges but can never actually achieve anything so always go back wards after a few years.

Far enough Hedda.

But is it not just a bit unusual/coincidental that so many countries currently have a growing number of far-right parties?

They were always around - but not so ubiquitous, in recent times.

Perhaps the internet, Twitter, etc. and smartphones have helped them to spread, maybe helped along by forces that want to weaken Europe/UK. ???

Maybe.

As well as plain discontent, for many.

Over 50% of UK land is owned by 1% of the population.

Some think that wealth should be shared more evenly.

Meaning that the natives should be looked after.

Instead of those who just arrive, for their own reasons.
