I am currently listening to a double album I have of theirs, no producer is credited at all.
Any ideas?

The production is throw away and yet thoughtful.
I have an EMI single of theirs and it says "a Paper Lace Production".
Were they self produced all the time?
I`ve met them , but did not ask the recording questions.

I have no idea Mart.

However, I do recall a moment when I was a wee lad and this rusty van pulled up and the bearded driver asked me directions to the local Working Men's Club. I told him where to go (politely and accurately of course) and thought no more about it until I saw this same guy a couple of weeks later on TOTP. I realised I had given directions to Paper Lace.

Oddly enough, much more recently I was walking along a street and happened to notice this very attractive young lady who looked totally out of place. I watched her get into a car and drive off, then I wandered into WH Smith to look at the CDs, to see her again on the cover of her new release - Avril Lavigne. She was in the UK to promote her debut single.

The last time I saw Paper Lace was at a 70s nostalgia show, and they only had one original member (chris Morris, I think).

Were they not produced by Peter Callendar and released on his Bus Stop Records?

My records are on Contour and Old Gold.
Very informationless.

It was Peter Callendar and Mitch Murray according to my 7" copy of Billy, Don't Be A Hero!

The answer may be... Mitch Murray and Peter Callender.

From Wikipedia

"Thanks to that show [Opportunity Knocks], songwriters/producers, Mitch Murray and Peter Callender quickly signed them."

Cheers for that guys.
I mimicked a recent production on their recordings.
The way the instruments are used are very lyrical and fit the stories that are being sung perfectly.

At the risk of saying they don`t make them like that anymore, they simply don`t.

Mart, I totally agree with you about 'The Night Chicago Died'. I still dig that one out now and then. A classic.
