Is it really such a big deal?
Sometimes dogs are better off on the inside seat away from children who poke them, and tea trolleys thundering over their tails, and nicer for people who want to sit at the table without having someone slobber on their feet.
Just put your coat down on the seat in case someone gets covered in dog hair.
