I`m surprised they took the old one down still, I know they needed more space , and it`s corridors etc were in a pretty bad way, but ripping it down and starting again still seems pretty over the top.

Those white towers were legendary.

Whilst I think the arch looks stunning, I shall never forget my excitement of seeing those towers for the first time, in real life and not on the tv, and my walk down Wembley Way.

That said, I will never forget the two hours it took us to get out of the car park and the jam up on the north circular.
I don`t imagine there will be any change there.

OK back late went home via Stamford Bridge and a few beers! The stadium is absolutely huge and the TV pictures don't really give you an idea of just how vast it is. We were quite high up but had a really good view of all the action and for a change there was plenty of leg room with the seats. The massive screens at each end give an exceptional picture, total clarity and the PA is one of the best I've heard. It is a seriously impressive stadium and is on a totally different level to somewhere like Cardiff. One downside of the size seemed to be a loss of atmosphere as where we were sat you couldn't even hear Utd singing and I guess it was the same for them.

Walking up to the ground the stadium is very imposing and easily beats San Siro, Olympic Stadium etc. for sheer size and quality. You enter and get ushered straight on to escalators up to your level, certainly never had that at a football match before!

Unfortunately the pre match hype about prices was correct

Can you believe I've never been to a soccer game in a UK stadium?

I went to world cup games in Europe (Italy and France) and of course to hundreds of baseball games (both Yankees and Mets in NYC) and they do run stadiums brilliantly there.

When I took Ray Cooper to the Superbowl in San Diego they serve fine wines and sushi to your seat (waiter service)!

You could call him that but actually he was my friend the MD of Virgin USA at that point, though he was about as much use as a percussionist in a library!

A nice chap,(the percussoinist version) he told me that most people don`t recognise him or understand what he does.

Back to yesterdays game though, I think Giggs was very unlucky to have that goal discounted.
There was nothing wrong with it for me, although ,(cliche alert) the best team did win on the day. (Brian)

Thanks for your review of the stadium, terrylamps. I can't wait for my turn to sample it a week tomorrow. A friend is giving me a lift down. Whether he's given any thought into parking is quite another matter. With 32,000 people heading down from Derby, I can see this being a problem.

As for the game, I do think Man Utd were unlucky to have the goal disallowed, but this makes a pleasant change, and there is no doubt Chelsea well deserved their victory over 120 minutes.

I hope the outcome is as satisfactory for me next week!

On checking with my neighbour, who is a football referee, the ball was technically out of play once the keeper had it in his hands. It was only after this that Giggs pushed him over the line, therefore it could not have been a goal. The exception would be if the keeper crossed the line in the same movement as him catching the ball, but in this case the slow replay shows that Cech had caught the ball and come to a halt prior to Giggs crashing into him. The ball would only be in play again once kicked or thrown out by the keeper.

The result was a good one.

Anthony there were some sporadic private car parks on the way up to Wembley but very few and far between, they were asking
