Over 11 million viewers watched Eurovision yet the media are urging the UK to pull out of it!

It's a brilliant evening of television, almost as old as I am.

When I was brought in (1995) ratings were down below 5 million and Alan Yentob was on the verge of cancelling it.
I dragged viewers back with Love City Groove, Gina G and Katrina and it's topped the ratings ever since.

The media that are telling the UK to pull out, will look rather silly if there is a pull out and the show is still broadcast in the UK without a homegrown entrant.

Completely daft, lets look at the original ethic.

"Let`s all enter a song to sing in a competition for our European neighbours".

Let`s look at the stupidity of pulling out.

" We never win, even when you use our brand new football, so we are not playing with you anymore".

Sarcasm and wit was used with Scooch, which was the best and most entertaining way of objecting and cocking a snook, pulling out would be the behaviour of a spoilt child.

Well summed up, Mart.

With the likelihood of two semi finals being used from 2009, in which UK may well have to participate, I think there is a real possibility the BBC will throw their toys out of the pram and withdraw once we have failed to make the final.

With the right song and right person in charge (wonder who?) there is no reason why UK cannot win the contest again. Even if this never happens, so what? It is a marvellous traditional piece of light entertainment which the public love to watch.

The whole thing is just a somewhat desperate attempt by the lower-end media to write something to fill the spaces between adverts.

I would have happily watched Eurovision had we not been represented by Scooch.

It put me right off watching!!!

Instead I caught the highlights the next day on Youtube.

Loved Verka!
