Why are people calling Epstein a paedophile when as far as we know he jolly well wasn't?

If he liked post pubescent young girls, it is called something else.

Taking advantage of seventeen year olds is horrible, but sorry, it is not the same as an eight year old being raped, and it is a bloody insult to them to suggest it is the same!

Part of the reason may be because it's one word rather than several and gets people's attention and clicks. Also, the word "children" is often used as a catch-call for individuals at secondary school, even if some are older teenagers (some examples), so it's understandable that many people won't necessarily make a distinction, especially if it involves giving a criminal some kind of benefit of the doubt.

In Ireland, where I spent a part of my youth, the worst thing to be called - was TRAITOR

Still used occasionally - by those on both sides of the ongoing political divide

Meaning a person perceived to have sold out his/her principles

Usually relating to allegiances - to, say, nationalism, the UK, Catholic church etc.

I'd never heard of the word paedophile until I was about 30 years old!
The word took off and now it's used as an everyday slur!

To be honest, I never used to think much of underage relationships either. Many accept it and as for 'young love', some see it as cute.

On the basis of it, it is innocent, but not so in today's society where shock horror reaction dominates.
Some marriages today stemmed from young relationships.Good for them. It's only when somebody gets sour grapes it becomes a problem in their personal world.

These relationships are frequent, but seldom a problem. Would that be a fair view? The trouble is, nobody wants a knock on the door several decades later. Do they?

As a parent myself, I advise against relationships until at least 16.
I do also advise that relationships are not compulsory but that makes me sound like an old 'has been'.

Why are people attacking Jeremy Corbyn because of the way he pronounced Epstein as though people in Britain didn't think it was a Jewish name.

I mean really..the frigging world has gone mad.
