Royal Etiquette and Anachronisms 4 Years, 5 Months ago
Those who marry into the Royal family are baffled by the rules concerning rank priorities - including where they should stand, at a meeting or gathering.
Or how they should adhere to anachronistic rules about Royal seniority. Thankfully Meghan is slowly bringing this obscure situation to broader attention.
Andrew and Meghan have - have jointly, albeit inadvertently, and very differently
- microscopiced a dated/bizarre existence to our attention.
Where some are bowed to, admired for doing nothing, given enormous assets/income - whilst just smiling. Is the world not moving on?
Re:Royal Etiquette and Anachronisms 4 Years, 5 Months ago
no-one was more baffled than Princess Diana who had a heritage & pedigree that was far grander and longer than the Mountbatten Windsors.
Perhaps she didn't realise that it's those behind the royal family who run the show and they are just the figureheads.
I reckon Meghan was accepted by them and Harry was allowed only because they needed new blood.
Always remember what Tony Benn said.."if The Establishment want the royal family gone they will be" and as Prince Philip has said.."no need to put us up against a wall and shoot us..we can be packed and gone in 40 minutes".
Re:Royal Etiquette and Anachronisms 4 Years, 5 Months ago
The time seems appropriate for a major downsizing of the Roal family - following the frontline departure of Philip and Andrew.
Half a dozen individuals would be sufficient to attend memorials - and to dole out gongs. To recipients chosen by others.
Meghan and Harry are already uncomfortable with the way things are being done, and are keen to have a base elsewhere.
And the British public are becoming rather bored of hearing that A isn't talking to B. Or that new Royal freeloaders are moving into Kensington Palace.
Re:Royal Etiquette and Anachronisms 4 Years, 5 Months ago
Why are some people hell bent on getting rid of royalty?
What they cost to keep is nothing in comparison to other costs.
It seems to me the big paranoia or hate comes about from.conspuracy idiots and people who have a hard time in life and think attacking royalty will somehow achieve something.
As for governance, they don't run the country. Albeit, that could change.
When William or Harry becomes King, there will be a lot of nervous people.
You don't need me to tell you who.
They lost their Mother whilst very young.
If you aren't on their side, you are on the wrong side.
IMO.

Wouldn't downsizing put extra pressure on those remaining on the frontline? The King of Sweden has recently removed five grandchildren from the country's Royal Court but Sweden doesn't have the legacy of a large Empire and the same high levels of intense focus from Fleet Street.

Bookworm wrote: I see the Yorkshire Air Ambulance has withdrawn from Prince Andrew now.
He's been found guilty of nothing. I think its appaling of a public service to react like that.
It is terrible. It seems that everyone's piling on, e.g. Piers Morgan suggesting that Prince Andrew should be stripped of his royal title ().
Perhaps the sooner Prince Andrew speaks to the FBI, and is hopefully not charged, the better.
Re:Royal Etiquette and Anachronisms 4 Years, 5 Months ago
The FBI have a lot more important things to be doing, following up serious - and actual - crimes on American soil.
Currently I'm watching the excellent 'FBI' TV series (2) showing the level, complexity and scope of daily incidents - being investigated.
With technology a major ingredient - and perpetrators from radical/terrorist groups, organised crime and nation states.
Currently the Bureau simply hasn't got the time or resources to get involved in possible sexual daliances, for instance - or the views of media moguls.

Barney, the night Diana was killed/ murdered Fleet Street were hiding a huge hacking scandal.
They all chose to keep quiet.
Meanwhile, the nutter Icke ( and others) are out there using diversion tactics either knowingly benefiting the vile media or not with his BS about her ritual death And pointing fingers at others.
Piers Morgan (Unlawful Killing) insinuates British security services may have done it.
Hmmm.
Officials aren't stupid. It is quite apparent that during the hacking inquiry, they saw what was going on around politics and a referendum. There is major backtracking going on now, although they wont admit it. Note Lord Levesons words to point out that Rupert refered to 'we' when talking Europe which proves it wasn't just his papers, it was his wish!
Do you really think Murdoch will want to do the UK any favours after he was caught out?
His loyalties are with the USA.
The truth is what it is. Nobody has anything to gain by ignoring it!
Personally, I think we are looking at the most deceptive political scandal in history. Why is nobody in court or jail?
I have personally been warning people about Murdoch for years. Nobody wanted to listen.
They will listen now!
Clearly Thames House don't brief the cabinet on what they know. Because they don't trust them?
Politicians would rather run than take him to task. Nobody needs those idiots!
