Apparently the late Lord Baden Powell requested a copy of a book of photographs of various handsome Sicilian youths au naturel by the famed photographer Wilhelm von Gloeden ..surely nothing wrong there.
They weren't pornographic and the subjects were not coerced and is there any difference between those and say, a Rubens fleshy nude hanging in the National Gallery?

Besides obviously Baden Powell admired young people for whatever reason but there isn't a hint of anything untoward ever happening under his watch.

## On one of my many visits to Sydney I was invited to an exhibition in Kings Cross of said von Gloeden photos as part of the then Sydney Gay & lesbian Mardi Gras. The evening was packed solid and spilled out into the streets (can't imagine why) when the then Vice Squad arrived after a complaint. 3 coppers looked around the at the snaps and soon departed with one saying.."healthy looking lads but no law has been broken".

Of course the highly politicized Mardi Gras management would never host such an event these days and would probably be the very ones who would ring the cops today .

Alas..the Compensation Culture has hit the Boy Scouts as they declare bankruptcy.

## I think this is pretty sad. the scouts are hugely popular now in the third World, Africa and Asia and the Jamborees did a great job of allowing kids from all over the world to mingle and find mutual respect.

as far as I know there has been no Moon landing in Oz..but one of our highly profitable tabloid magazines may have printed the story.

One just (unusually) got hauled over the coals for claiming Meghan and Harry had divorced.

The Boy Scouts of America, church groups and sporting organisations - for juveniles and young people - were ideal opportunities for sexual predators.

Spread all over the world - and run by respectable pillars of society - as well as ordained clergy. Our children will have a great weekend, at the camp site, with Colonel Burns and Father Mathews!

Parents were wrong footed by people's status, in society - the predators were quick to identify vulnerable situations and individual children.


As a result nowadays, many of us might now consider bypassing distressed children - for fear of being identified as a potential danger, with unsavoury intentions.

I was very proud of my Dad a couple years back in his 70s, walking alone, he came across in the dark about 9pm a young child alone and crying sat on the kerb.

He was at the same time terrified of how it might look but equally determined to do the right thing and walked the child home..allowing the child to hold his hand.

Parents were unfailingly grateful as well...

I was surprised to see so much of it in football.
