I feel much more helpless than I thought I would. An idiot came into a local shop last week and started coughing, no hand over mouth, very close to me and a few others and we all scarpered. Then I felt really uneasy for the next few days, wondering if I'd caught something. It's very hard not to get wound-up by all the scare stories you read about.

The cyclists were socially distanced though, even when they were being yelled at. It looked like it was the nurse who was invading their safe space.
Obviously they shouldn't have been gathering, but no need to make a scene.

It really is scary just going about your business with lots of people actually enjoying the power of making you scared of them when they deliberately come too near.
Like would-be rapists.

Another kind of space offenders are shop staff, who make no effort at all and freely barge into you as if it doesn't matter.
I suppose they think they have already been exposed so what the hell?

And people with small children. They let them ride around on trikes or run ahead as if somehow they dont count.
Maybe they think children are immune because they often have no symptoms? It makes no sense.

Some shops don't seem to know how to operate their own rules. There's a mini Sainsburys near me. About ten days ago they started making you wait at the entrance until they deemed it was okay to come in. A tad excessive, I thought, for a store that's seldom got more than a few people in at one time, but fair enough.

But they stopped bothering after two days of that. Then suddenly last Wednesday it was back - this really sullen girl would shout out 'Wait there!' Like she's warning stray dogs. But then she'd turn her back and wander off to the back of the shop - so she had no idea, or interest, in assessing who was leaving and who could come in. So we were just left standing there.

Now today - you can just walk in again! No logic at all!

And some days they all wear face masks. Other days they don't. Same people. It's baffling.
