TOPIC: Dominic Minghella on BBC

Dominic Minghella on BBC 5 Years, 4 Months ago
A very interesting revelation on ghastly Victoria Derbyshire from the TV producer brother of the more famous writer & director. He got this nasty virus and only just survived. His solution is that the lockdown should be increased; made even more strict.

I'm sorry but I think this has been approached from the start from the wrong end. It is highly infectious but generally very harmless. We should have - and I think must now - concentrate(ed) on who gets seriously ill or dies; protect and treat THEM. Vaccines and treatments. That's where research must go.

Like Flu; no point in trying to stop it (or the common cold) - find a vaccine, sure, but learn how to treat the severe respiratory effects which we've known about since Day One. It's why us elderly are MOST vulnerable (our lungs start wearing out). I personally feel past & present smokers are at HUGE risk, especially those who smoked pot/marijuana etc in the foolish belief it had no effect on them. I think it seriously weakened the lungs, making a pathway for Covid19 to be really lethal.

But I know nothing. Doctors & scientists should know more.

Still saying it's trivial?

1.9 million infections; 115k deaths; 210 countries.

No other new disease or infection has spread to every country on earth.

And at a spread rate - so fast and wide ranging - not seen before either, in history.

Just two new records for this incurable and unknown virus.

Hopefully the record breaking will stop soon.

Stories of recovery and illness usually come direct from the emotions. It’s impossible to be rational or to listen and be open to rational thoughts and solutions when the mind is attached to emotions.

Not only do you appear to know little but your views are so blinkered you aren't even listening to those that do.

The reason that there is a lockdown is because the virus is so contagious and infections spread rapidly. There isn't a cure and if the herd immunity route was taken the peak of the outbreak would have put too much pressure on the medical resources so the lockdown spreads the infections obver a longer time period. This approach has been taken by almost every country in the world. even countries such as Sweden have come out and said they got it wrong.

The UK government in February got a report which said unless you try and contain th spread the death toll in the next few months would be 250,000.

Yes it's trivial for 99% of people; probably even more trivial than colds or flu.
Yes I listen to the "experts" BlueBoy. I just don't agree with them. Sorry.

1% of 67 million (uk population) is a very big number and if that number of patients or anywhere close to that number had to be dealt with the NHS service in a 6 to 8 week period it would never cope.

The action being taken by every country around the world is very similar so you are in an incredibly small minority. Given you have no experise in virology yourself you can only be making your conclusions based on hunches. In a time when the country needs to be united voices like yours are very dangerous.

Ah "voices like yours are very dangerous". You must hate George Orwell, BlueBoy, and love Hitler.

I saw her once at a media party. God she was pompous. She arrived with an entourage of about four or five women who sort of hovered around her, waiting for instructions to get her a drink etc. I don't know what it is with these women - they always seem so insecure they have to have other women sort of fluttering around them, and they treat them like slaves (no equality for women when these women are in charge!).
