TOPIC: Pell: hedda right as usual

Pell: hedda right as usual 5 Years, 3 Months ago
The biggest shock to me was that George Pell was exonerated in the High Court by SEVEN judges (usually only 5 sit)with a complete condemnation of his various trials, if anyone bothered to read the lengthy Judgement.

The reason I was shocked is that I thought even they may have been swayed by the vicious Get Pell Campaign which has so many tentacles it's difficult to pull then together.

Previously I pondered on here that the dreaded Calabrian Mafia, the N'drangheta were largely behind the persecution of Cardinal Pell but aided by a Get Pell atmosphere that was being endlessly played out in the Australian media for at least a decade.
Pell was being blamed for events that happened when he was just a priest with the claim from one hack I know that it was justifiable to blame him for "not seeing abuse": because he eventually rose to be the third most powerful Catholic and therefore should have.

Such a wacky idea that also ignores one of Australia's most prominent & respected political reporters was also a trainee priest with Pell and shared the same house but says he "never saw a thing".

My learned Italian investigative journalist pal who is an expert on the N'drangheta was the first to alert me to the Mafia's role and long before Pell's prosecution said that when Pope Francis appointed Pell to his financial position he said "that's the end of Pell..he's finished". And thus it began.

He has so much info on the Victorian Police and the embedded corruption at so many levels especially by the Mafia. The Calabrian Mafia run all crime in Australia but they have a stranglehold on Victorian Police.

I reckon it will be explosive and the hints he has given me will bring down so many powerful faces.

# One will be a journalist I knew just on nodding terms. He' s gay and has been (as have 2 "gay rights" groups) absolutely appalling in his distorted Get Pell campaign.
He's in for a shock.
As a great pal of the late English born & Nobel Prize winning author Patrick White , revelations that White frequently trawled the infamous "Wall" in Sydney's Darlinghurst where often young boys of age 10, 12 etc or even 30 prostituted themselves, will be devastating.

## This again relates to how so many who promoted the Carl Beech, Savile etc etc seem to think they are immune from false accusations.

( in a dastardly plot an attempt was made to bring down a distinguished & highly respected gay High Court judge Michael Kirby over similar claims backfired spectacularly when it was revealed his government car records were fabricated.
www.dailytelegraph.com.au/abbotts-man-ha...3606f35e40d031ed5f0a

## My pal has finally spoken to a guard at Barwon prison who confirms that: not only was Cardinal Pell extremely popular among the prisoners which included terrorists and murderers before he was sent into Solitary Confinement as a further punishment (apparently he used it to read extensively)..an almighty cheer went up from prisoners when it was announced he had been exonerated.

It's an important point because the Get Pell Lynch Mob ( some big names) posted the usual hysterical claims "the nonce will be raped". Doubtful- Pell is 6'6" and as strong as a bull even at his age.

### And the sole accuser. Unhindered in Italy by Aust. confidentially - his long history of psychiatric confinement and serious arrests as a heroin trafficker will be fascinating. It's only going to take one compromised Victorian copper to roll over and reveal that despite VicPol advertising for "victims" and giving dates and every hint needed to about Pell's time at the Cathedral..police actually sought out the accuser rather than he approaching police because..not one single accuser cam forward despite numerous newspaper adverts.

#I hope they print an English version!! His books are best sellers in Italy.

Check out the Chris Friel article in the Malaysia Sun Hedda. Very well researched.

Pell was accused of sexual activity (with minors) in the sacristy of a busy city centre cathedral, after Sunday mass - with hundreds of worshippers in the vicinity.

Most felt it was unlikely - as there are better locations for such matters. Such as seminaries - which former US Cardinal Theodore McCrirrick used for decades.

Theo has vanished after being defrocked by the Vatican - perhaps 40 years too late. But the silence from Rome, on Pell, is deafening.

Despite announcing that a canonical process (religious court) would follow after the Australian verdicts - nothing whatsoever has happened, or been said.

Bearing in mind that Pell has publicly raised the subject of high level corruption in the Vatican - the lack of response is somewhat puzzling, at best.

It's just been announced the the two Royal Commission reports in Australia - into child abuse by Catholic clergy - will be published in days.

These were originally published - in a highly redacted way - around 2016/7, to ensure that Cardinal Pell's trials were not prejudiced.

Although the reports may not allude to the accusations (of sexual abuse) against Pell personally - they will cover his handling of numerous allegations, of child abuse, by clergy.

Pell, as Cardinal, oversaw the allegations/accusations, and has admitted to being 'deceived' - even whilst cohabiting with a priest, who was a serial abuser.

So again, Pell is in the spotlight. A man - who, like most of his church peers in other countries - failed to take action against proven paedophiles.

Often - instead of being sanctioned - priests were just transferred to other parishes, to abuse again.

Never were the abusers reported to the police - or civil authorities in Australia.

Again, the Vatican makes no comment or observation - and Pell again faces inevitable criticism alone.

Seemingly, he was just following orders from Rome - like other Cardinals on every continent.

I doubt much will come from that.

One problem is Pell's manner of speaking which can be a bit blunt.

So that when he was being grilled in the Royal Commission and responded to one question about alleged child abuse priests "I wasn't that interested" (or words to that effect) the media went ape shit and seem unable to distinguish between the fact Cardinal George Pell at The Vatican was not the same priest in training Pell who like a 1000 priests was pretty oblivious to many bad things happening.

I've actually seen credible journalists who seemed to believe Pell was the Bishop of Ballarat when a lot of abuse happened. Yet he was a trainee priest like 100s of others. None of these things are ever corrected in the media and thus become Gospel.

Significantly and ignored by the media are the facts about Archbishop Pell's so-called "Melbourne Response" in the mid-90s, that not one single case of abuse has been reported since.

Yet they use the Melbourne Response- the first in the world for victims of the Church- to actually attack him and claim, on not a scintilla of proof, that he was attempting to stop alleged victims from going to police although the Response specifically said that anyone wanting to report to police would be aided by Church solicitors & this had been worked out with Victorian Police (who turned on him)

Even more bizarre is that his critics claim it was an attempt to limit compensation even though if you claimed abuse with reasonably straight forward "facts" (such as a deceased priest raped me as a a fiend of mine claimed even when he said to me it didn't happen but the offender was jailed and then dead so it didn't matter) you were up for at least $50,000 or up to $100,000 with one actually receiving $1M (they had proof).

#It was a case of Show Me The Money for my friend who was deeply disturbed, got his compo but eventually borrowed his brother's car , filled it with cans of petrol and then drove at high speed into a tree.
I had a mutual pal say the other day "he did that because the abuse in the church shattered him"( which didn't happen according to the deceased) but my pal was as mad as a march hare and his main problem was his Indian boyfriend deserted him when the money ran out.

## Thank God it's Not About The Money.

### I can even understand false accusers going for the cash but..Pell is being blamed for every single aspect of church abuse.

The Plot Thickens..

# I'm pretty sure it was on here that someone contradicted ny claim that the 2 Victorian Appeal Court Judges who rejected Pell's appeal had no experience in criminal law. Easy to do as the media claimed they had but..now it seems both had not a day's experience in criminal law..the Chief Appeal Judge had never practiced as a barrister and only ever conducted litigation in commercial law..

Whereas the dissenting Judge Mark Wienberg is considered Australia's most knowledgeable criminal barrister..something everyone agrees upon.

I digress...

In true Op Midland form and as our esteemed host JK oft points out..coppers aiding accusers has become the norm

One matter is that of the accuser (even more worrying tales of him now emerge..no wonder he gave a "graceful" comment on Pell's win..coincidentally having secured $500k compo before that appeal.)

It seems the (retired) Detective who led the accuser aroiund the Cathedral where he accurately described the room of abuse with it's 2 sinks as being "exactly the same and something I will never forget" but alas..he was describing a room of the future where the 2 sinks he claimed he & the other lad found the wine was only installed in 2004 and in 1996 was actually just a wardrobe .

I'm digressing again..when Robert Richter QC clashed with Pell's arresting Detective..he had experience as the very same Detective has coached another accuser in 2009 when she claimed a prominent MP raped her in his office.

The woman at that stage was living in Greece and eventually the MP demanded Greek authorities prosecute her for Criminal Libel (I so wish that law was brought back). She was convicted and got a suspended 3 year sentence.

No slap on the wrist for the Copper of course and posibbly prudently, took retirement just as the Pell High Court appeal was being held.

The 100 redacted pages, in the the Royal Commission reports on child abuse - by Catholic clergy in Australia - have just been published.

Previously, the pages were withheld - to ensure that the completed child abuse cases against Cardinal George Pell were not prejudiced.

GP's failure to address the paedophile activities of clergy is confirmed - with examples given; something that, on occasions, Pell had admitted to.

However, Pell was simply following the directives of Rome - to cover up the abuse, as far as possible.

The same instructions were given to Cardinals/Archbishops everywhere - for decades.

Surely now - the Vatican will comment - despite a recent reluctance to say anything.

"Cover up the abuse"? I suspect, frequently, it was "Don't automatically believe False Accusers; many are after money or other rewards; check that there is proof not just lies".

Australia isn't the first jurisdiction to investigate large scale child abuse - by Catholic clergy.

In 2018, a grand jury reported 1,000 incidents of such abuse in Pennsylvania - and many others followed in the US.

These included the Diocese of Boston - where, in 2002 - the Boston Globe published 600 confirmed cases.

Later, in 2015 - an Oscar winning movie, Spotlight - detailed the Boston Globe investigation and how Cardinal Bernard Law there, tried to cover it up.

When the Globe published, Law was spirited away to Vatican City - and independent state, from which he couldn't be extradited from.

Bernard Law was given a prestigious position in the Vatican - which he fulfilled, with a high profile - until his death a few years ago.

Archbishop Pell's "Melbourne Response" was first in the world and long before any US action to address abuse in the Church.

It offered generous compensation on basically an accusation alone and no obligation to report to police, but legal help was available if a claimant wanted to.

No figures but it's said 100s took up the offer with few going to police with a minimum of $50,000 to $100,000 compo ( Thank God it's not about the money though).

Pell has been paying a price for that ever since.

If a man sexually abused your child, would you seek 'generous compensation' - or justice and retribution?

Money was the only thing that victims were given - when the Catholic church finally admitted that abuse had occurred.

For decades it was denied by Rome and several Popes - and accusers were pilloried and ostracised for daring to even suggest it.
