Does he not look at the death figures in France, where the quantity of cases has soared (due, like the UK, to increased testing - who cares?) but virtually nobody is even ill, let alone dying?

And the laws aren't even published or scrutinised in Parliament.

Could it be that the government is also preparing for the possibility of civil unrest after October 15th? Introducing non-sensical arbitrary rules may be unpopular but not as unpopular as bringing in the army.

I just think MD they can't admit they got it horribly wrong, and are trapped into rules and tests that make no sense and are not achieving anything.

Can state intervention prevent a virus spreading short of us all being put in individual cells forever? Of course not.

But yes these powers are very broad and have the potential to be abused.
