I have to admit I don't think any such award will ever be forthcoming.
Fortunately, I wouldn't want one anyway.
One of the essentials is, I believe, to boast about your charitable donations and contributions.

I must admit I am totally into the now "Sir "Ian Botham.
A classic case of a very single minded anti establishment man, doing life the way he wants to do itand consequently officially admired by "establishment" for a second time.

CBE? A knighthood for JK at the very least, surely. Better still, Lord King has a certain ring to it! No, not going to happen, is it?

As for charitable donations, I couldn't agree more. I always think the Karma gained from charitable generosity is expended once you make sure everyone knows what a decent chap you are.

I get the impression I may be the only boarder that has read the Satanic Verses.
I really cannot say I enjoyed it and it was rather a chore actually.

I liked the concept though, which is actually rather horrific.

What a pile of poo these honours are anyway. One can only assume that Ryan Giggs has pledged a few quid to charity. I agree with JK. Furthermore some of the greatest men always miss out on the gongs. Only the passing of time sorts out the greats from the halfwits. Vincent Van Gogh died penniless and ridiculed.

I like the irony that the day that Rushdie gets his knighthood, Bernard Manning dies.
