I'm enjoying my britbox subscription, but not because of the much hyped new series of Spitting Image. It is much like the original series, the puppets are funny for a very short time, but the scripts are poor. The most famous joke in the original series, was the very lame joke about Mrs Thatcher saying and what about the vegtables, in which case she replies they will have the same, referring to her cabinet (HA HA)

I've been re-watching the excellent series "The Moorside" about the fake abduction of Shannon Matthews. The whole series in covered in 2, 1 hour episodes. She is lost and found in the first episode. If it were on Amazon or Netflix, we would be six episodes in before Shannon is abducted, all for the sake of eeking about more advertising revenue.

Is that is the best that Britbox has to offer then no thank you. I watched a DVD of Spitting Image several years ago it has badly dated and MP's these have no personality. I bet the writers have Trump Derangement Syndrome also.

Well I wouldn't say that it is the best that they have to offer, just the only original exclusive content that they have. It has the best series from bbc, itv, channel 4, and channel 5 (slim pickings from channel 5). The Moorside, Broadchurch, Dr Foster, and much older stuff like the survivors, Dr Who, space 1999, and 100s of other series. I subscribed to Netflix for a couple of months and saw everything that I wanted. A few good documentaries (forks over knives, cowspiracy, Maddie McCann doc.). However most of the series didn't do much for me. The After Life, a very slow dated looking sitcom, with loads of f-ing and cussing, and Sex Education ( A poor man's skins), Stranger Things (Like trying to recreate the Goonies)

I might as well go over to America meet the family and watch the same dross on BBC America what is on Britbox. Father Brown and Fawlty Towers is on pretty all the time.

Well it costs £1000s to go to America, and not really advised at this time. Also I wouldn't call Fawlty Towers dross, one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. Also I would say that there are actually more ITV shows than bbc. Frost, Marple, Appropriate Adult. Basically it is just an extended version of a combined iplayer/itvplayer/all4, and 5 on demand. At £5.99/month, i think it is a good bargain.

Fawlty Towers is a very clever sitcom and the British sterotypes are spot on, they moan but don't complain. I saw Appropriate Adult when it was first aired, I don't want to see it again thank you; same with any drama. I don't understand repeats of things unless it's a classic show or film made about 30 - 60 years ago. It it's not Dr Who.

I think I stick to buying DVD's from Network at leaast it's the output is the real archives not something about 10 years old.

Yes, it is about choice, I can think of better things to spend £5.99 per month on...Abebooks.

America is not cheap but it's bloody worth it and so much to see.

It also has lots of classic films like "The Lady Vanishes", "The 39 Steps", and "Passport to Pimlico". I'm sure these must be old enough for you Green Man.

I don't buy dvds much anymore, unless it is something that I'm desperate to see and it is not available on any streaming services. They cost about £10 each (nearly twice a monthly subscription to prime or britbox), you watch them once or twice, then they clutter up your home and eventually end up in landfill. Going into hmv, it only seems to be very old people who buy dvds or cds as they often don't know how to use streaming services.
