Rights... 4 Years, 9 Months ago
The English Collective of Sex Workers is demanding state pay outs for the non tax-paying criminals it represents during the second lockdown.

The Gov should apparently "urgently" address their members' "illegal" status in order that they can access state support.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-54780027

The English Collective of drug dealers and burglars is urgently holding a conference at an undisclosed location this morning to vote on whether to follow suit.

Everyone has a right to everything these days. Just not to personal freedom. We are content to let that go...

Women have the right, in the UK, to legally sell sex for money. Just like in many other countries all over the world.

Such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Belgium, Sweden, Brazil, France, Germany, Austria, Bangladesh, Greece etc.

About 80% of sex workers (in the UK) are single mothers, who are simply trying to make ends meet.

Not at the moment they don't.

It is currently illegal under the ridiculous measures the Gov have introduced to try and combat the virus.

I have no problem if someone I don't care about wishes to become a "sex worker" rather than get a job in a shop or cleaning.

But for goodness sake expect to be taxed directly like the rest of us; especially if you are going to start making claims about what is "owed" you by the State.

However, it is incorrect to describe sex workers as criminals.

And disingenuous to compare them to drug dealers and burglars.

It is hardly the same as selling Avon. Much of it is modern slavery.

Exactly Honey.

There is a danger in using "normalising" language such as "sex workers" rather than prostitutes, and naratives such as "just another option for a single mother" when of course it is an option that can be highly dangerous, physically and mentally.

And for as many women working by choice happily enough (apparantly) as "high class escorts" in Mayfair, there are women and children walking the streets or kept as slaves.

Only a stupid society (such as ours) would seek to normalise such behaviours. If some want to make a genuine choice, fine. But let's not have it set out as a neutral option, either morally or vocationally.

Those that get het up about the use of pejorative language are as likely as those using it to want their own children working in the "sex industry"...

Which tells you all you need to know about their position, and what words can be used to describe it.

It's just simplification taking over; for me the most dangerous form of this century's sickness.

My partner knew escort's and if they are working for a company there's tax to pay but at least it's above board, there's also agreements in place with clients and the escort. If there's touching, kissing, sex or going just for a drink; it all has to be in writing signed by both parties.

Many of the clients are just lonely people or want just someone to 'show off' at an office party.

I like women to be grafter in a proper job.

Isn't this standard now for regular dating?

It should be given the world we now live in; all colour and nuance being steadily drained from it....
