I've been predicting this for some time. Covid19 will fade away but in the next few years another, far more lethal virus will emerge. As infectious as Covid19 though probably in a different way (through drinking water or infected blood or whatever). And, after ignoring it for months (allowing it to catch fire, as Covid19 has), humanity will start culling its own. Killing infected people. Children testing positive will be politely and gently put down. Old ladies will be hastened into funeral parlours, helped on their way. For the good of the majority. Just like Denmark is doing to 15 million mink (see the lone protester as tractors bury those innocent little creatures), perfectly well but infected humans will be gassed or poisoned or shot. As a species we've done it before, many times. We'll do it again.

The one species of animals that takes far more than it needs from the world is being hit gently by a respiratory illness that threatens a few of their number because of grotesque lifestyle choices; principally greed, smoking and alcohol abuse.

Instead of walking more and breaking unhelpful habits, humans kill tens of millions of another species in a pointless attempt to stop the inevitable.
