Morse 4 Years, 8 Months ago
The current daily ITV3 series is Morse. Wonderful to see Laura (now Mrs Lewis) in her early battles of wit with Morse (she's still gorgeous, in my opinion). And Lewis, now retired, as a young Sergeant giving Morse subtle stick. A joy. So well written, acted, directed.

And one of the lovely things about old TV is seeing favourite actors in different parts - the wife in Pie In The Sky is in tonight's.

Maggie Steed. And a very young Roger Allom who crops up in Endeavour as Thursday!

Endeavour, I think, is the best of the three Colin Dexter series - with Roger Allan as Fred Thursday. All three are set in Oxford and Oxfordshire - with Blenheim Palace and the colleges used to good effect.

Series 8 is greenlighed for filming in 2021 with Morse, Thursday, Bright and Strange. John Thaw's daughter plays the part of the Oxford Mail's editor - and Dexter is an extra, in every episode.

The very last Morse tonight; The Remorseful Day. Mind you, Lewis has been great too; and Endeavour.

I loved Morse.

My favourite episode was the "magic flute" one where an evil genius Morse had previously jailed comes back to set him up. I recall that he planted a cassette tape in Morse's house that set itself alight and burned his house out.

Morse's main concern was that the cassette was the worst recording of The Magic Flute ever made and he would never have allowed it in the house....

Morse does have a following in USA. I have never got in to it however I do appreciate the production value.
