Covid super fast variety... 4 Years, 8 Months ago
So London to Tier 3.

Hancock says that there is a "new variant" of the virus (it had to evolve as it wasn't infectious enough before...?) which is only found in Southern England (it is thought to dislike Northern accents) and spreads more quickly than c19 mark 1.0.

But there is no reason, he says, to think it will kill more or not respond to the vaccine.

So folks, we need to justify why none of the lockdowns are working a jot and try and scare you a bit more, but not too much. So a vague "super fast" C19 is thought up!

Translation: just stay in your boxes a while longer while we try and save our political hides...

Just how stupid do they think we are...

But they have known for months that there are variants.
It an excuse to justify putting London into tier three.

Yep. All viruses mutate. This is psychological warfare by a Government on it's own population.

Having made the mistake of thinking they can stop a virus, they need to either blame us for not following their pointless rules, or come up with a new "type" of the virus to explain their failure.

Until they give up on their careers and admit the dreadful classification mistake they have made with this virus, we will continue to be collectively oppressed, and psychologically abused.

But is it the Government? This is a global problem, with different countries dealing with it in different ways. Hard to see any pattern.

That's maybe, but the reactions and decisions for this mundane virus are a sad reflection on our government.

No more than many other aspects of society; I'm a big fan of Merkel in Germany and the New Zealand lady but they, too, were fooled by the media hype of Covid19. I'm afraid this entire fiasco has shown how powerful the media is; conspiracists cannot explain the total difference of reaction in different countries. If this is a "global reset", it hasn't worked.

Saudi Arabia banned all travellers, including religious, from covid hospots in March last and have fared very well. Helped by being able to control and monitor via the world's largest social media user population.

You see my problem is - this control thing. I don't think society NEEDS to control the spread. Yes the virus can be lethal - though nowhere near as bad now as 9 months ago. But it was NEVER worse than flu or a cold or cancer or road accidents or heart attacks or sepsis; it should have been treated as a trivial virus for the majority whilst serious protection, treatment and research for vaccine took place. Almost everywhere over reacted. The solution was NOT either extreme (Lockdown vs Do Nothing). Common sense should have told societies to behave sensibly.

Agreed. However sometimes common sense needs a push and Saudi's huge social media coverage helped. This media is becoming more powerful daily in all facets of our global existence.

I mean it is our Government to the local extent that it is no coincidence that the "new strain" is announced at the same time as London lockdown. It is a lockdown; calling it a "tier" is just language manipulation.

I don't believe the conspiracies. I believe we are oppressed (we can't say who comes in our homes or not) and abused by fear tactics like the "new strain" presentation etc etc etc.

It is quite deliberate. But in our case it is done to try and save the careers of a few at the top who have - like many countries - unecessarily ruined and killed their own people through lockdowns. They won't admit they got it wrong, which is needed to enable them to take a new approach.

Einstein defined stupidity as repeating the same action over again and expecting a different result - so Mal I also agree that through repeated use of lockdowns by different names; our Gov is stupid as well as manipulative.

If the new variant is spreading quickly, surely the sensible thing to do would be to contain it by putting everybody into tier three, not saying "here is a more infectious version- go spread it through your families next week"?

I think they must have dropped the script and got the pages mixed up. It makes no sense at all.

I'm not even sure they have established whether the variant spreads quicker yet Honey. The script is only dropped if you believe that they are genuinely concerned about this variant, rather than using it as propaganda for their failing interventions.

Oh I am pretty sure it is all bollocks, but they could at least try to keep the gaslighting consistent.
