Redundancies... 4 Years, 8 Months ago
Soared to over 300 000 and record levels between August and October due to lockdowns.

Is there anyone out there who can point to evidence (not supposition) that lockdowns have saved lives?

I have looked for this since March and not found any.

I would like to see some.

Evidence, no. Media views, yes. For example, this one favours lockdowns.

Lockdowns may have saved some lives, but at the cost of many more.

Yes I have seen a lot of views like this, referencing data showing that infection rates drop with lockdowns.

This does not seem surprising. But they also never seem to take into account variations in testing regimes and methods; which as we know are very unreliable.

I have also seen as much data (for UK) showing that infection rates were going down before lockdowns and lockdowns not affecting rates at all.

Nothing ever about death rates that would amount to evidence supporting the ongoing ruin of our country.

Yes obviously clamping down on social mingling will cut down infections - including colds and flu. But it ignores the fact that, for the vast majority, this is a trivial virus. Protecting & treating the vulnerable, and educating the dim with common sense, would have been equally effective and far less damaging.

Do you know I wonder how 2020 may have looked if The Gov had paused in March and asked themselves a fundamental question: what will happen if we position ourselves as being able to control this air borne virus and will do so at any cost?

The media storm made this challenging at the time I know.

But if they had risen above this and mapped out the absurdities, horrors and now trap this position has led to, would they have done it given the vanishingly low lethal threat of the virus?

I strongly suspect not.

Sweden seems the perfect example of them doing exactly that.

It may be all the difference boils down to: Nordic Cool Vs Anglo Panic...
