Public Service Announcement 4 Years, 7 Months ago

I've spent the last 7 months in and out of hospital..8 times to date usually for 3/5 days at a time . All helped by the fact elective surgery was cancelled due to Covid so emergency cases only were treated.
Wonderful doctors under our version of the NHS and angel-like nurses from all over the world..a lot of Scots and Irish and on my last visit, 2 American students who were wonderfully polite and helpful.
3 very serious illnesses.. but the last one..and this is a warning.. do not ignore all those adverts about the PROSTRATE ( as I did).
Early treatment by drugs can save a lot of time and trouble.
Do NOT let it get past first base. Now mine has been fixed by surgery..and it was the last illness but.. I have NEVER encountered pain like it. I had no idea pain could be so unrelenting and fierce.
Four Morphine injections did NOTHING except..by that time I didn't care as I was zonked but the pain was still there.
Fortunately the experts are used to this and provide relief fairly quickly.
# On the upside I've lost 30 kilos so I'm not just my gorgeous self now, I'm ravishing. And all my old clothes fit superbly !!!
Now if only there was somewhere to bloody well go to.. Lockdown approaches again.
## Something this Sunday I'm invited to.. Magic Mike. Never heard of it but apparently it's a show designed and directed by Channing Tatum.
From the adverts..looks like a lot of male strippers

Welcome back Hedda; just to correct you; the stupid delays in dealing with your (and millions of others) was not due to Covid19; it was due to stupid governments over reacting to Covid19. I get tested for prostate problems every six months (same time as testing my blood for diabetes concerns) and have done for 15 years now.
I ignored all these ads to have your prostrate checked and paid the price.
One advantage being in and out of hospital is they discovered I too have diabetes so now have insulin injections and I feel (and look) 30 !!! (ok..45)
## I feel for Americans having to pay an exorbitant price for those Insulin pens. I think they pay about $125 each. I got 6 months supply - 35- for $10.
yes the stoopid reactions to Covid were to my advantage.

Hedda, I am really glad you are ok. You were much missed.
I am not following how it is the government reaction causing the cancellations?
Surely the same number of people (or more?) would be in hospital no matter what?
I'd have thought that what matters most is having enough staff and funds to deal with the odd pandemic?

One of the big problems additionally is health staff getting tested all the time, being perfectly fine of course, in the significant majority of cases, but having to isolate and so can't go into work - so everything is getting cancelled/pushed back.
Reports model apex 200 000 deaths in UK as a result of this.
Let's hope this is as accurate as Ferguson's modelling of the virus!!

you didn't convert me JK..I was just selfishly commenting on how lucky I was that all those OAPs waiting for hip replacements were suffering as I was cared for.
Now the lockdown is over in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, Bondi is absolutely full of ghastly young people having fun.
The Northern beaches of Sydney have gone into total lockdown after a handful of people caught Covid at a bar. Thankfully they won't make it to Bondi as they aren't allowed to travel either and hopefully they'll put tanks on the Sydney Harbor Bridge to stop the buggers crossing.
thank you Honey for your well wishes., I won't hold you to that $3K Donald Trump debt now.

I don't like to be open about things, but my partner could have both ovarian and breast cancer. Letters and referrals are all in the post. I am actually scared for her.
I am shocked by the lack of the information there is about ovarian cancer - what is the survival rate and can it be fully cured ?
In all seriousness I am glad Hedda, has brought up prostate cancer in to the limelight and is doing well.

Oh Green Man, how awful. You must be awfully scared. If you want someone to talk to, or someone to listen while you have a rant or whatever, please get my email address or number from Mr King.
Remember that they MUST test for this, even though it is far more likely to nothing much at all, sometimes just menopause symptoms, so try not to think the worst. I cant remember how many referrals turn out to be cancer, but it isn't very many.
This site gives the survival rates, if you want to be prepared just in case. ocrahope.org/patients/about-ovarian-canc...fZ5a638aAqgyEALw_wcB
Do let us know how your partner gets on, and remember to take good care of yourself too.

GM last summer my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has undergone surgery, completed chemo and has just finished her first week of three of radiotherapy.
Hopefully your partner won't receive a cancer diagnosis; try not to think the worst (though I know how hard this is). If she does you will adjust. But it is very scary and you will feel very powerless.
I have set up this email address: Wyot01@outlook.com
Please feel free to PM me any time if you wish.
