TOPIC: The Forgotten C

The Forgotten C 4 Years, 7 Months ago
This is how Prince Charles describes cancer - because of the priority given to the virus.

In the 6 months to August, 30,000 less chemotherapy treatments have been given, compared to last year.

With delayed operations and cancelled treatments common place - and the Macmillan charity's income drastically depleted.

Diagnosis levels for cancer have reduced and it is thought that about 50,000 of us now have some type of cancer - without knowing it.

Seemingly the consequences of the virus may be more significant that the damage it, itself, causes.

Very good; glad you are coming round!

You just need to be careful with your language - it is not here the consequences of the virus you are discussing, but our response to it.

The cancer problems are clearly and directly caused by the virus - and the Forgotten C campaign is being run by Macmillan.

With the aim of ring-fencing cancer to ensure that the current blockages don't continue. It's difficult now to even get a doctor's appointment - unless virus related.

One illness/medical issue has replaced another, and the remedy must be to introduce a more balanced approach. Cancer patients have been albut ignored.

Many diseases lie dormant in our bodies. They only surface when our immune systems are low.

How does a respiratory virus "clearly and directly" lead to cancer treatment delays and cancellations?

No, it IS he response, because as far as we know, the virus does not cause cancer.

IF we had enough separate hospitals working, and enough staff to cover shortages, and effective and full PPE, it would not affect it at
all, would it?

Why the 66? Cant we just call you Barney? No need to hide.

As my grandmother used to say, you can run away from yourself, but every time you get where you are going, you find yourself right there, same as you were.

Because, as Macmillan confirms, hospitals have been overrun by the treatment of the virus - which has been prioritised.

To the detriment of cancers sufferers - and hence the necessity for the Forgotten C campaign (see the Macmillan site).

If treatment of the virus has been prioritised the virus would have had to have made that decision itself to be a "clear and direct" reason for the result of the change.

Very smart virus.

You also have a rather touching sort of "call the midwife" idea of how hospitals are run. If the ICU is short on staff due to C19 cases, the oncology nurses don't down tools and run down corridors to work in the ICU on Covid cases.

They don't just change which frigging aisle they are working like in an Amazon warehouse...

Going off on tangents doesn't dispute the indisputable

That is - what is actually happening on our wards...

Stupid Barney - we all KNOW that. It's WHY and how it can be changed that matters. I repeat (as on most of your posts) DOH!!!
