Yes 'pandemics' and viruses must have carried off so many people in the past at young ages. I think only the rich or isolated lived until their 80s. Others seemed to pop off before they were 50.

Even a cut could kill you without antibiotics. Must have been so hard.

What about pain? I now worship Sister Morphine who smiled upon me several times in hospital recently (love how doctors,nurses now seem to believe pain relief is a right)

What if you had a toothache or appendicitis etc in the 1700s ?

Hopefully soon they'll believe in the right to die. When terminal illness is involved - with some conditions.

Interestingly, my area has been revised down to 6 deaths now from 7 the other day!

Tom may be down to 5 which is half a person dying a month...
