TOPIC: Shakespeare In Love

Shakespeare In Love 4 Years, 6 Months ago
Wonderful film on the BBC but hold, what light shines? It was the work of Harvey Weinstein. How can they show something by a Vile Pervert? Like playing those wonderful hits (and even using them in BBC trailers) by Phil Spector. I thought, like banning any post mortem appearances by Jimmy Savile, such things were banned on the BBC. Or the work of Gary Glitter - some fabulous hits. Those mighty censors, saving us from evil, really cannot make up their stupid minds, can they? We need a respected figure like Goebbels to run our morality for the aggrieved majority who always believe the media which tells us to judge art by the private behaviour of great artistes. Not.

I loathe the "cancel culture". Regardless of the guilt or innocence of those involved, since when did humanity get so precious and judgmental that work has to be wiped? It is interesting that it stops for Weinstein because predumably he is not featuring in the film, but surely the credits could disturb children and should be removed? And why only sex crimes? The actor who played "Dirty Den" in Eastenders murdered someone but he can be viewed peacefully on re runs by people who enjoy that sort of thing.

If it is a moral judgment then surely murder should invite the most sanction, as it does in law?

Gosh, we have got ourselves very confused...

BBC has always been contradictory.

'However here's Jonathan King with a charming song called King Lear it's over to you.'
