Have we by locking down encouraged a more virulent form of the virus to emerge; largely through hospitals and care home contacts?
If we hadn't locked down then we would have encouraged the spread of milder strains that would have killed far less people - as is happening in India. Or happened in Sweden.
Viruses evolve to reflect the routes open to them, and by sustained lockdowns we blocked the opportunity for it to spread the majority, milder version.
