Just watched Margin Call - very good film; Kevin Spacey is a terrific actor. I desperately want to see the Getty film but I won't see it, on principle, after they dumped an innocent victim of false allegations the moment he was accused. I have no idea whether Spacey behaved badly or not but witch hunts are essentially evil.
I see the Stacey type situations now as the start of a pattern of behaviour that has moved to the extremes of "woke" and attempts to "cancel" people and their work, e.g JK Rowling on trans, for daring to dissent from the agenda.
The commonality is the assumption by militant movements of an absolute morality beyond the law, beyond due process and so beyond human rights, which they feel called to violently (in words, threats, boycotts or physically) uphold.
They are convinced they are on the side of the angels and will brook no nuance, hesitation or questioning; lest it bring themselves into question. They are young and idealistic. Another way to say this is they have little experience and are stupid.
Sections of the media fan the flames and politicians stand around the campfire handing out hot chocolate and sausages because it is easy to do and costs them nothing.

Margin Call is very underrated film. I like Spacey in Beyond the Sea; I have no idea how true it is to Bobby Darin actual life.
I saw American Beauty thinking it was going to be shit but ended up enjoying it despite having a paper-thin plot.

It is the biggest cultural problem we face.
I wonder if something like WWE have to edit their own history; back in the day wrestling was shown in bars and honky-tonks and the characters/gimmicks they used back then will be been as "racist" these days. Not seen any pro wrestling since about 1998 - I had to Google it.
I was at the first Wrestlemania and Liberace was loving it. It was camp then and it's camp now.
