TOPIC: Spot the Cop

Spot the Cop 4 Years, 5 Months ago
in the Sarah Everard case... announced by... Assistant Met Commissioner Nick Ephgrave who quit as Chief Constable of Surrey after I complained about him in 2018 (after he was quoted in the Mail as saying he had no intention of resigning - the next day he applied for a transfer).

Nick you are, I hope, aware that if the current Surrey Chief Constable Gavin Stephens had chosen to investigate his officers - after the IOPC found them faulty - Sarah might well still be alive (if she's not). And William Murdock (60) would also be alive. Once you fail to correct police conduct, you get Knees on the Necks.

It's astonishing how crooked a lot of officers are. I knew many good ones and they should not be tarnished but it now going to be even harder for the public to trust them.

Most are accidental (William Murdock; I'm sure they didn't want him to kill himself; just "doing their jobs"). Some are (who knows what happened to Sarah?).

But it's such a trivial matter with the probability being significantly less than a severe outcome or death from Covid-19

It looks like this cop was off duty and just happened to be a Police Officer who used his warrant card to kidnap - probably to rape - and then murder this poor woman.

He could have worked in any area of work...

Indeed. But there have been too many examples of police "getting it wrong". Badly trained, not disciplined, feeling they can get away with murder. Yes - everyone makes mistakes. And yes - it could happen in any profession. But that doesn't excuse it. Bad, bad management by top police bosses more concerned with their own careers than with making sure bad apples get punished.

Possibly Police should undergo some kind of psychological profiling to weed out the sociopaths likely to abuse power. And yes I agree there is a stronger argument for Police to do this than Librarians...

Sociopaths pass psychological profiling with flying colours. It is part of being a sociopath.

If we employ based on exam results and quotas, instead of allowing experienced officers to use their instinct about people, it does leave it more open to abuse.

This must explain how I have got on Honey. I have been profiled several times in my career and they never seem to rumble me....

I do find the Met telling women in Clapham not to go out alone as a response to this troubling. It's not like an unidentified serial killer was on the loose; unless they have reason to believe more of their officers may behave like this!?

I am sure they didn't intend to transfer the blame to women, but unfortunately it sounded like it. Is this some kind of Covid thinking extension? We eliminate all risk if we just keep staying indoors.

No, women should be able to go alone wherever they bloody well like and the only response needed is more Police actually on the streets preventing crime rather than reacting to it.

You know - those hundreds of Police who can magically descend on parks to break up picnics?

Yes, it is misogynistic victim blaming. I would like to see the reaction if they told all men to stay home after dark!

This Green Baronness has already got there today Honey. All men should face a curfew from 6pm to protect women.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9350711...-Everard-murder.html

Reading further, I think she may have been giving the Met a tounge in cheek taste of their own medicine for saying women shouldn't go out alone. Fair enough.

Haven't heard anyone today suggest maybe Police make the streets safer and actually patrol them - astonishing omission. It's like it has nothing to do with them.

Yes, I missed it, I am afraid. Good for her!

Well, the police cant claim they haven't got the manpower any more, when half of them are patrolling my beach in case somebody has the audacity to walk on it.

You have a beach!?

But on a serious note the 6pm curfew for men won't be a problem. We can all just self-identify as female.

Let's see how this confused old world copes with that. Couldn't touch us currently...

my first real job at 18 was being put in charge of a fashion shop. My employer was a little old Jewish gent who was a mega millionaire who seemed to take a shine to me and each week called me into his office..past 100 employees typing away to his almost broom cupboard sized office as he sat there, collarless and tie less like those Israeli politicians used to wear.

Over and over he impressed upon me the notion..the rot comes from the top and if I ever perceived that "management" or the top dogs were corrupt or incompetent..head for the hills.

proved right over and over again..it seeps downwards to the lowliest of employees.

Re Lady Green person..if she is out prowling at night I'd voluntarily like to be locked in by 6pm no worries .
(I mean that kindly)

Looks like there will be a big spike in men identifying as women in Wales...
