Travel Abroad 4 Years, 4 Months ago
A dilemma for the government - with 40% now vacinated in the UK - but much lower percentages in many other countries. Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and Germany are around 12%.

Elsewhere vaccination levels are significantly lower and the danger - of UK residents travelling abroad - is that the virus could be imported here on their return, despite our halcyon work.

Senior officials have said such travel is 'extremely unlikely' - with airlines, and the hospitality industry, predicting economic Armageddon if travel permissions are denied.

With our roadmap in place for exiting lockdown and restrictions - together with our world leading vaccination efforts - foreign travel seems decidedly unlikely this summer.

I don't see the issue. Why would we worry about bringing it into the UK when it is all over the UK? We do our own new strains well enough, and are told vaccines are effective against them. Why are we concerning ourselves with how many are vaccinated in France or Portugal if all our vulnerables are vaccinated? When will this peculiar Covid fetish end...?

So what do you think, Barney? Should they ban travel completely? How long for?

Do you think we should all be allowed to travel abroad on holidays then - this Summer?

Unless you want to bankrupt countries more and separate families even further. I haven’t seen my daughters in New York for over a year. Using Skype is not the same and just depresses me even more.

Yes. Personal freedoms and human rights should only be suspended as an absolute last resort where the country faces a very signficant & clear & present danger. Re-badged flu doesn't amount to this for me...
