Despite the exaggeration and inflation by media building a trivial virus into a killer plague, figures show how stupid some countries have been and are being. Just like flu, now there are several effective vaccines, the drama is over. This is SWEDEN today.

Look at Germany today.

No country seems to be showing any maturity or wisdom and discussing living with Covid as we do all other viruses, so I fully expect talk of a 3rd wave here soon, delays to opening up and further lockdowns.

I think we need to separate the seriousness of the illness from the decision to ruin people's livelihoods and curtail freedom.

The figures are not meaningful because this is the numbers of people infected WHILE EVERYTHING IS SHUT AND WE ARE PREVENTED FROM SPREADING IT TO EACH OTHER.
If everything was normal, the infections would be greater.
(I strongly suspect that there wouldn't be as big an increase as you would think, but who knows?)

I don't know how serious an illness needs to be to justify locking people up. Maybe it is never justified?
But I feel like the statistics of an illness we chose not to curtail or protect against in any other way than shutting things down is missing the point.

The figures are very relevant Honey in that - regardless of the effectiveness or not of lockdowns - they show the percentage of those who are infected who are in a serious or critical state and it is 0%.

To my mind lockdowns and the harm caused can't be justified in the name of a virus that is killing 0% of those infected. Assuming lockdowns achieve anything and if we opened up - it would still be 0% as a proportion; and that is the point.

Look at France today and compare it to a year ago.
