Former university lecturer Francis Beaumont, 79, was jailed for 20 years after being convicted of five offences of rape against Kim Chown.
Mrs Chown spoke out after her father was jailed in the hope it will encourage other victims of sexual abuse by a parent to come forward.
She told the Yorkshire Evening Post she had chosen to waive her right to anonymity in the hope of becoming an ambassador for victims of similar abuse.
This story is gruesome and the DIY abortion with a coathanger aspect reminds me of the film Sybil with Sally Field, which has a horrible scene in which Sybil's mother performs a DIY gynaecological operation on her daughter on the kitchen table.

For someone so horribly abused by her father, this woman looks remarkably relaxed and happy in the photos with him, including the one with her arm hooked round his neck at the age of 21. The reference to her alcoholism reminds me of Rolf Harris's main accuser's apparent struggle with the bottle and the desire to become an ambassador for abuse victims to the Rolf Harris accuser in one of his subsequent trials who the defence said had jumped on the bandwagon because she had similar ambitions.
