Whole Truth

UK BIG Compo Cult CICB/CICA 4 Years, 3 Months ago
Since the scheme was set up in 1964, the Authority and its predecessor, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, have paid more than £3 billion in compensation, making it among the largest and most generous of its type in the world.

However, it has been criticised on occasions for failing to provide adequate compensation to victims of serious crime, particularly people seriously injured as a result of crime, rape victims and the parents of murdered children - most notably the parents of murdered children Sarah Payne, Damilola Taylor, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

If I had my way I would ban all compensation, assuming that ongoing physical and mental health needs would be taken care of, obviously.
The very idea of being "compensated" for a dead child is repugnant.

It's a curious notion isn't it; that it is the role of the state to use our money to pay victims money for crimes committed by citizens on citizens, and that money actually provides any real compensation.

I might argue that I would like financial compensation for my tax money being spent in this way, when I have already paid taxes to have Police prevent the harm in the first place; and they have failed to do so in many cases because they no longer prioritise prevention through bobbies on the streets, and are now largely a reactive organisation following political agendas.

But what do I know...
