Help! I am genuinely bewildered as to why we have amber travel destinations? They are legal to travel to but Boris says you shouldn't travel to them.

Why not? I had a look at new infection levels in Spain and they are about the the same as the UK. I don't understand how me travelling to Barcelona over London tomorrow would pose any more risk to the people of the UK on my return.

There may have been a point to all this in March 20 but they allowed Covid to rip through the country then - bit late now!

Does anyone know what this traffic light system is supposed to achieve?!

If you have different rules for different countries you really need to separate the travellers instead of cramming them all in together at the airport. Pointless pointless pointless.

I think a lot of it has become self-perpetuating in that politicians feel they have to be seen to be doing something. This is partly our fault as the majority are demanding they do something. They do a lot of stuff I suspect aware (or deliberately not questioning) whether it serves any point or makes sense. It leads to absurdities and as you say can actually make the situation worse.
