That's terrible. Elder abuse, more of it. If the accuser is allowed anonymity and isn't prosecuted, surely he'll be free to try again with someone else?

I'm afraid GM the lawyers often say "we can still make money out of this" and try to sue in civil court. Because they know police frequently assist false accusers and don't want it revealed.

I thought she was wearing a wig. Poor woman- what an ordeal to have to go through in her 70s (any age of course but really..)

I still bristle at the thought of poor Lady Brittan (socialists have feelings) and most especially what Lord Bramall was put through (thankfully for once- his wife had dementia)

We live in desperate times and people will do anything for money without a thought for what it may do to the falsely accused.

Both France & Germany ceased paying monetary compensation to sex abuse victims, rather offered life long unlimited therapy. Accusations dropped by 40%

When my lawyer tried to over turn my tax conviction, I told "Not to bother" I was badly stitched up by my former teacher/accountant and could only see the £ signs in his eyes. I just did my time, kept my head down and tried regain trust again on family and friends. I asked for solitary confinement because I didn't want to mix with the lags and not to do something foolish. I asked for my 2 things only that was pen and paper, not to write letters but to do creative writing.

Yes. I never did hear off the teacher but was told he left the country to Australia or something. He thought he try and be clever and swindle the taxman but ever since I have done my old accounting, I never had a problem.

What sort of stuff did you write GM out of intetest? I like to think if I ever did a stretch I would spend it in an artistic flourish between writing and the art room. But I would probably just focus, in reality, on symbolic and instrumental violence to create a hierarchy of fear & respect around me....

Funny thing the guard on duty wanted to know my real life work history my past. I told him along the lines there's not much difference between a barman and a prison guard. We both supply a service, try make people happy, sort out the riff-raff, both see and hear interesting things and we just do our best in our jobs.

He shocked about my philosophy but I said when you go to the pub next think about it.

I read Naked Lunch when I was a teenager. It is one of those books that you need to get older and cleverer to see that the feeling of being clever it induced was a young man's stupidity..!

Extraordinary stuff Green Man. Mark Kenny is a fairly right wing Murdoch journalist- why is it the right side of politics steams into to question the sensationalism of (false) accusations while the left remains with zipped lips?

As I've said before- I spend so much time defending old Tories from false claims.

I have a theory that the Left sees everyone except the "upper" classes as their natural constituency & are loathe to involve themselves in criticizing the false accusers ( see: Carl Beech)
