Hillsborough 4 Years, 2 Months ago
It strikes me, from the Judge's comments, that this case should never have taken place. So many cases are brought to court (Nourse? Me?) which should never have done so.

You're correct. The cause of the tragedy was a non-functional ground.

With inadequate turnstiles and terraces - and dangerous overcrowding.

All authorised by local/government bodies; the laws changed soon afterwards.

It is an absorbing state of affairs.

Three men who were clearly involved in doing something at the very least unethical were put on trial for doing something that wasn't actually criminal in that context. They should not have been tried for conspiring to pervert the course of justice as they did not participate in any course of justice in the first place. And the CPS did not spot this, the matter instead being left to the judge who did some research of his own and then pressed the abort button.

Lots bleating online about a lack of "justice", not fully understanding that justice involves the innocent being cleared as much as it does the guilty convicted.

Really good point and it is scary how many people assume that a "not guilty" verdict means that someone has got away with something; that "justice" has been somehow lost. Hillsborough looks to me like a terrible conflation of circumstances. A tragedy, in short. Why do people always want the head of someone?

I have no idea on the stadium layout then or now; however the newspapers lied and so did the police for a quick buck.

Is The Sun newspaper still hard to buy in Liverpool Honey ?

Sun? What is it?

I wouldn't say "hard" because nobody wants it, and anyone who does can piss right off.
It is just our little protest about newspapers changing facts to influence outcomes. We were ahead of our time.

There were ticketless supporters there and the policing was completely inappropriate and incompetent to deal. Add to that the old fences around the grounds and it was always going to lead to what it lead to...

Well for YOUR information, it was neither directed at, or replying to you, but was demonstrating that media lies, long disproved, are what people remember.

Not at all. We just tend to remember the first thing we hear, and unless you have a particular interest, you wouldn't normally seek out new information.
I blame nobody but the people who lied about it.

We all knew their was a cover up.

Police protecting themselves and football teams passing the blame. I don't know the story of the stadium being out dated, I have never been to a football ground, despite having numerous opportunities.

I have no idea what caused the crush but it shouldn't of happened and of course there people to blame. Another thing I bet that some of the coppers are probably deceased or many fled the country.

If it was me I would snub the pay out. You can't put a price on a loss of life but someone should be jailed at least even if it's a Sun journalist.

I don't really agree with the concept of compensation, but that is just me.
The admission of guilt is what is important.

That does absolutely nothing for injured parties

And often just confirms the blindingly obvious...
