Bill Cosby refuses sex offender program, so is denied parole

Actor Bill Cosby won't be paroled this year after refusing to participate in sex offender programs during his nearly three years in state prison in Pennsylvania.

The 83-year-old Cosby has long said he would resist the treatment programs and refuse to acknowledge wrongdoing even if it means serving the full 10-year sentence. This is the first year he was eligible for parole under the three- to 10-year sentence handed down after his 2018 conviction.

Cosby spokesperson Andrew Wyatt called the decision "appalling" and said Cosby "vehemently proclaims his innocence."

Good for Bill Cosby! It is a horrible system that makes innocent people have to pretend to be guilty to get out quicker.

Just give them the sentence they need, let them do it, and stop the needless bullying.

If the rehabilitation programme is that important it should be compulsory, surely ? If not, why penalise people for not doing it?
It is ridiculous.

When I was inside for crimes that never took place, it was totally compulsory for someone to admit guilt and do courses but I, of course, refused. The officers and staff in prison completely believed and backed me and I was astonishingly granted first early parole after doing just half my sentence.

How can someone be "rehabilitated" if they completely deny what they did? Forcing anyone into a programme is pointless; they must be in the right place. The biggest cruelty is indeterminate prisoners who may wish to engage not having access to the programmes they need to show a parole board they are less risky now.

And of course our silly response to Covid has seen large number of prisoners confined to cells for 23 hours a day.

UK prison's is a joke with their courses. If you don't go you lose certain privileges like your TV. I hated hearing thing's like today's workshop's is to help you get in to work.

I argued that when I'm out of this prison I will a job waiting. In which I did, my sister and brother in law let me work in their cocktail bar until I got myself sorted out again.

However when I serving unemployed customer's who do would do anything to get a job but to avail, they all said the Job Centre do nothing to help you get a job. Certificates you could get were for basic maths, English,CSCS but no one was building houses and a FLT.

I never understood why the biggest retailers and companies who took on from the dole but not pay them a penny. Depite doing the exactly the same as their current employees do. They called it "work experience" I call it getting free labour.

I used to get phone calls from DWP work programs asking if I was willing to take someone on for work experience.
