With familiar talking heads saying "the number must be raised". And, as always, I've written to the newspapers (below). And, as usual, no paper will carry it. And, as usual, society will ignore the obvious. Let's have another lockdown!

Every few months there is a news story, carried everywhere, that the number of sex claim convictions is dropping and must be raised. Very rarely are there articles pointing out that the exploding area of crime, the False Allegations Industry, is also faltering. Only cases such as Carl Beech, which feature dead celebrities, seem to get written. Editors and journalists ignore the hundreds of wrongly convicted victims of liars or exaggerators jamming jail cells. "You will be believed" continues to dominate police procedure. Allowing corrupt cops and bent lawyers to make millions from fake claims. Is the media deliberately colluding with potential criminals or has it just declined into superficial, easy tabloid headline slogan policy?

But just them saying they want more convictions is skewing the process, surely?
They should aim to find out the truth, and nothing more, in my opinion.

Have you tried writing to GB News? They solicit viewers' stories/reactions on their website and Facebook page. You could test how much substance there is in Andrew Neil's claim that they plan to tackle cancel culture and do news differently.

On 17th June the Telegraph included a table with this story listing 'myths or stereotypes' about rape:

In 2020, Crown Prosecution Service lawyers set out a list of 39 myths or stereotypes that they should challenge when bringing a case to court

Possibly the most interesting one on this list is 'If you dont say ‘no’, it wasn't rape – False'. I am now thinking of all those occasions when I didn't say no and surmising that I would have a good case were I to report some unsuspecting chap from 40-odd years ago.

And on the consent thing, how many women (or men for that matter) get into bed with someone and say solemnly, 'I give you consent to do [and then lists them]'. I never have and I've never encountered anyone who does either. And if a chap said to me as we finished our coffee and headed upstairs, 'I consent to you doing ....' I'd think he was dangerous and run a mile.

We hear so much about consent and giving it or not giving it, whereas in reality sex is about body language with some verbal cues thrown in. If someone tries something you don't want you ask them not to, move in such a way that they get the hint or as a last resort give them a shove.

Or maybe I've been doing it wrong all these years? Does anyone really say in advance, "I give consent for you to {etc.)?"

Oh I don't know. I always assumed that if I invited someone "just for a quick coffee" it would be clear that the message was " forget about any funny business"

When I first met my wife I learned she had tropical fish and expressed an interest in the subject. She invited me around to "see her tropical fish tank" which being a man I took as code for an interest in me; if not necessarily a plea to go directly to bed with me!

I went round and we had a coffee & a great chat. I didn't sense (then!) she wanted to take anything further so I didn't try anything.

She did point out later, though, that I barely glanced at her fish tank...

Everyone has their price, I am sure Andrew Neil has one - just wait what happens when a media company like Comcast shows interest. I wonder if Christopher Ruddy will invest in GB News ? He certainly has a number of British journalists working for him.
