Pathetic opposition.... 4 Years ago
Starmer in PMQs has started by asking the PM if he is "comfortable" removing restrictions on 19th July when this could result in 100 000 infections a day? (while never having said how long he would keep them in place or under what circs lift them).

In the next question he then criticises the Gov for proposing to retain the self isolate rule for the double-vaccinated for a period of time, in order to mitigate against the projected 100 000 infections a day.

So many people having to isolate, the worthy Starmer explains, would cause "huge disruption" to families and businesses.

Unlike the restrictions and lockdowns, I presume?

Starmer has then demanded to know how the PM proposes to stop people simply deleting the NHS track/trace app? Which, presumably, would be a good way to stop the disruption to families and businesses he was so very worried about on the previous question.

Confused, vague, shifty, opportunistic, shameless.

I sense Sir Kier would love nothing more than we open up and then the Gov feels it has to lockdown in Autumn because deaths are on the rise...

Told you so! Only you didn't; you said precisely nothing, just sniffed for political corpses since March 20.

I am not a fan.

Starmer is part of the Davos group. Of course he wants lockdowns.

He wants power and is too clever for his own good; so clever he is stupid.

Keir has had a Charisma bypass hasn't he?

Totally useless and you must wonder what is behind Labour's power barons to persist with him.

Faced with the most deceptive, deceitful creature who has ever been PM ( the opposite of a buffoon..if only he really were one) yet Starmer can't lay a finger on him.

Doesn't matter who you vote for, without a fierce Opposition we are all toast.

# Surprising the number of people, especially in the USA seeing the vote Trump got, who are entirely happy with a would be potentate and dictator.

Yes it is an incredibly unhealthy situation Hedda having Starmer lead the opposition. I agree that Johnson is anything but a buffoon - if only more people realised this; he hides a nasty wholly self-interested character behind that facade. Why Labour persist with Starmer who knows. It is surely obvious to all that he is never going to engage "the people".

But I actually think the Labour Party, as such, is finished. Simply, it does not concern itself with or even dare talk about the issues that "working" people care about. Ironically, the Tories talk about the issues they care about but don't really do anything about them. But in the world today, presentation is enough.

I have decided not to (I always have up to now) vote anymore. The level of debate is so dumbed down now I refuse to respond to any of their tiresome platitudes. And yes surprising the strong reactions this evokes in some people GM. Personally, I feel quite liberated from giving a toss...

It's why Australia's Preferential Compulsory vote brings out over 90% of the vote, a 3 year term keeps everyone on their toes, a powerful Upper House filled with Independents including 9 Greens and very strict Proportional Representation works so well.
