Richard Madely is criticised for daring to have any opinion about lifting restrictions that differ from a Doctor's. He is not seen as being able to have a valid opinion on the matter; because he is not medically trained.

This is the whole problem with this subject: restrictions are nothing to do with science. There is a respectable scientific view that restrictions could reduce infections of Covid. WE ALL BLOODY WELL GET THAT!
The decision that follows whether or not to impose restrictions is entirely political.
I am sure there is science showing that restrictions of various kinds would reduce the prevelance of harm from the following:
- Common cold
- STIs
- Air Pollution
- Fags/Booze
- Chicken pox
- Line Dancing
And on...
The application of restrictions is NOT the application of science; science only gives us knowledge on
how something works.
The debate is like attributing the science behind the internal combustion-engine for why I have just driven my car into a tree.
Madely is as entitled to his opinion as any scientist on earth.
