The Final 4 Years ago
Luke Shaw was close to me in the stadium in Rome (as was Jordan Pickford). I was impressed then. Even more now.

Well; half time - very good game from both sides but England just a bit better.

What a wonderful display by England; great team goal and finish. We have truly rattled a strong Italian side. I have a feeling though we are in for a long night....!

Brilliant save by Pickford - got in on the rebound - memories of Harry Kane!

I think England are being hammered so far.

As soon as I saw Rashford prancing about trying to take a "cool" attention seeking penalty I knew football was - like JK! - staying abroad rather than coming home...

Oh well.

Am I being a bit mean thinking he lost that because of his showboating?

Not at all - that is what happened. But what I hate about a small minority of idiot England fans is the racial abuse he will inevitably now receive...

I have already seen some fool on twitter saying he should go back to where he came from.
Manchester, I think?

Unfortunately we abuse a German child shown crying in the crowd (in the most vile way...), boo every other national anthem, spit at and intimidate Danish fans, break into Wembley, racially abuse our own players. While singing about football coming home when we haven't won anything since 1966.

But we are the "Brexit" island, I suppose. Lord knows what the rest of Europe makes of us. I suspect - to fittingly use a German word - there is a lot of schadenfreude on the continent this morning.

Sadly, who can blame them.
