I don't blame Boris or Keir or Ed for the Covid fiasco; I blame the gullibles for believing the media - many of whom KNOW that it always exaggerates and inflates. It's its nature; like the Scorpion and the Frog.

I wanted Corbyn as PM and watched him destroyed by media (and I blame Corbyn for not linking with the Lib Dems).
I wanted Hunt and not Johnson to win the Tory leadership election.
But I'm far from convinced any of them could have beaten the media.
"Lockdown! This is a killer plague!! Millions are dying!! Great headlines!!!".

Democracy no longer works.
The majority believes the media.
They thought Corbyn was anti-semitic. He isn't.
They think following spoon faced Greta will save us from climate change. It won't. It's inevitable.
If all emissions were stopped, everyone became vegan, burning stuff was ceased, cows prevented from farting - we might slow climate change by 23 minutes.

There needs to be a check on the media considering the damage and thousands of lives lost from the panicdemic.

People have always been suggestible, and the power to scare is not difficult to harness. But their power is so out of control that we have endured the last 18 months and all the lives lost because of our reaction to Covid.

I agree that democracy can no longer work when the media is able to dictate Gov policy and form the opinions and expectations of a majority of citizens so fully. I wait for the inevitable return to restrictions in a few weeks time as they ramp up the infections-out-of-control story.

My eyes have been fully opened - because of our reaction to Covid - to the extent that media runs the world. I don't agree that "gullibles" are solely to blame or deserve to die. It takes quite a strength of mind to swim against such a tide.

I am not suggesting Government control of the media or supression of stories, but media must be held to account - particularly in areas that relate to public health/life & death- to provide balance & context and this includes responsible use of language.

Examples - allow media to give the Covid daily death tolls but force them to also cover daily cancer deaths one week and deaths from air pollution the next.

Force then to give context because context begets thought.

If celeb "sex pervert" is the story then also figures showing that the vast majority of children are abused by someone in or known to the family. Use the word "claimant" not, pre-sentence, "victim". That is a disgraceful and often untrue slur on the innocent. Ban BBC from repeatedly claiming that Covid has caused an increase in domestic abuse. No, the Gov reaction to Covid has.

This stuff, day in day out, matters in a nation with Twitter attention spans. If we have a nation who can't see what the actual danger in front of it is it will destroy itself.

I have a feeling it already has destroyed itself WYOT. The Participants Scotland and Northern Ireland are poised to split. England and Wales will be left; a tiny little country; worth very little.

I don't think gullibles should be blamed. Some people are naturally thicker than others, and need protecting, and the current education system does seem to promote gullibility.
I blame those who take advantage of the stupid, and use their naivety to further themselves. Horrid.
