This is the kind of sentencing that happens in New Jersey and California. If it was Texas the 3 men would be applauded by the judge, public and the police.

Why the fuck are the judges so soft in the UK ? Even shooting a burglar dead is legal in some states if its done in the home.

But it wasn't in the home, was it? They accused a man in the kebab shop and battered him.

Not the same thing at all.

And even then, you cant just shoot people willy nilly. "The burglar" might be somebody mentally unwell, drunk, drugged, or a child.
If you are in immediate danger, yes, defend yourself.

I (very vaguely thankfully and certainly no longer...) knew a guy years back who was sentenced to a fairly long stretch inside for GBH/Wounding.

He saw the young guy he believed had stolen a mobile phone off him a couple of weeks before, sat enjoying the sun in a London park.

Beat him to a pulp with life changing injuries.

It was the wrong guy.

Idiot violent man spent 3 years inside. I think he was lucky not to have been charged with attempted murder.
