Arguably restrictions have slowed this progress to herd immunity down, if they do indeed have an effect at all. For those who haven't noticed they haven't had much of an effect yet.

A thousand people a week die from Sepsis in the UK - every week; every year. Not that you'd know, from media coverage. Far more die each day from cancer. Not that you'd know, from media coverage. Government could cut that to almost nothing by banning smoking. Not that you'd know by media coverage.

Parts of the UK are like USA with regions where obesity is the norm. Trying to find a healthy around the UK coast's are rare, if you go to California people do look after themselves just like the people in Galveston do.
