I'd find it astonishing that the biggest story in the world has been totally ignored by UK media. The USA does not accept the AZ vaccine as a proper one. OK it's a different country. OK everywhere has different standards. But this massive rejection by the world's No1 country implies that there is something seriously wrong with the AZ jab. Vaccined with two AZ jabs in the UK? They won't allow you in to the USA. For God's sake - why not? The public should be told. I repeat - I'm glad I got the Pfizer.

I think it is more an indication of wanting to trash the vaccination that is provided at cost, when you are charging for your own?

Am I banned from America then? I have had AstraZeneca and cant have the Pfizer because of allergies.

Just a passing mention on a BBC News report about laws - but what I find stunning is that media has neither picked up on this or publicised it. The USA regards the AZ jab as unsafe. Yet the majority of UK citizens have had this flawed vaccine (approved before being tested on the vulnerable over 60s).

Has the FDA in the US then made a final decision on AZ? I thought they were just waiting for more data from the company and had AZ in stockpile because they already have more than enough Pfizer/Moderna/J&J; and this was why it had not been approved as yet?

I suspect there was politics and vested interests in why other vaccines were prioritises and stamped first in the US over AZ; rather than it being a clinical decision.

But I would say that as I had AZ!

I have no idea of the reasons but I find it amazing that UK Media haven't publicised this (and examined it). Not my job; but surely it IS theirs? Well, would have been 20 years ago when they exposed thalidomide. Times (and hacks) have changed I suppose. And yes Honey, it seems if you (or WYOT) wants to go to America, you won't be let in.

It is a complicated picture and I think this stuff will get thrashed out in the coming weeks and months. International travel is a total mess.

The US is apparently letting in Aussies who have had AZ but they also need to provide a negative test. Europe doesn't yet recognise officially the Australian produced AZ version; so technically (only) Australians can't move around Europe.

AZ too is now in 3rd stage clinical trials in the US - and I suspect official approval will come soon.

But yes no doubt that AZ has been rushed during the panicdemic; I will just have to hope I don't grow hooves or something in years to come: but I suspect I will be able to walk on said hooves along Broadway if I wish.

But if I wanted to travel to the States now yes it would be an almighty fucking headache and depending on where I wanted to go - perhaps impossible.

So I am going to Weymouth next week instead.

If you hear a dreadful noise outside Heathrow it will be Wyot and me singing this...

As a friend of an AZ Scientist I trust it without question. We're due to visit 4 US States in February, if they don't want my $s it's their loss.
